Policy on Syllabus Changes
Except for changes that substantially affect the implementation of the evaluation statement (grading), this syllabus serves as a guide for the course and is subject to modification with prior notice.
Assessments and Grades
Absolutely no make-up work, extra credit assignments, or other opportunities to improve grades will be allowed after the last day of class. Therefore, do your best throughout the course.
Any missed assessments will receive a grade of zero. All assessments will be open-note during the course.
Note on Technology-Dependent Assessments
This course relies heavily on technology. While we will make every effort to assist you with technical issues, please be aware that if you complete an assessment but we cannot find any record of it, we cannot grant you credit. Do not use Safari when completing assessments in Canvas; use Chrome or Firefox instead.
Final Course Grade Components

Final Course Grade
In this class, only individual assessment grades will be stored and displayed on the course website. It will only be granted if both of the following conditions are met:

The only assessment you have not completed is the final quiz, and

Academic Honor Policy
The Advanz Academic Honor Policy outlines the University’s expectations for academic integrity, the procedures for addressing alleged violations, and the rights and responsibilities of both students and faculty throughout the process. Students are responsible for reading the Academic Honor Policy and for upholding their pledge to “…be honest and truthful and… [to] strive for personal and institutional integrity at Advanz.”
Attendance, Absences, and Withdrawal
-
Withdrawal and drop deadlines are listed in the institution’s academic calendar.
-
You are expected to meet all assessment deadlines.
-
Poor planning, time management, or misuse of resources are not acceptable reasons for missing deadlines.
-
Please note that opportunities in this class are equally available to all students, and it is up to each individual to make the most of them.
-
In the interest of fairness, we cannot grant an exception for one student that we could not equally grant to all.
-
Documentation for missed deadlines will not be accepted after the last day of class.
Attendance Policy
Excused absences include documented illness, family death or other documented crises, call to active military duty or jury duty, religious holidays, and official University activities. These absences will be accommodated in a way that does not unfairly penalize students with valid excuses. Consideration will also be given to students whose dependent children experience serious illness.
Final Exam Rescheduling Policy
You may not take the final exam before finals week.
Students who need to reschedule the final exam to another time during finals week must:
-
Speak with me first and obtain permission to reschedule,
-
Complete the “Request to Reschedule Final Exam”
-
Submit the approved form to me by the last day of class.
If you experience a documented emergency preventing you from meeting this deadline, contact me as soon as possible and we will address it from there.
Sexual Misconduct and Title IX Reporting
As your instructor, I am required to report any cases of sexual misconduct I become aware of to the Academic Chief; I cannot keep such information confidential. If you wish to discuss your situation confidentially, you may contact Student Care.
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
Students with disabilities who require academic accommodations must:
-
Register with and provide documentation to the Admissions Office,
-
Request that the Admissions Office send a letter to the instructor specifying the need and type of accommodation, and
-
Meet (in person, by phone, email, Skype, Zoom, etc.) with each instructor who received an accommodation letter to review the approved accommodations.
